L.A.W. 501(c)(3) (“L.A.W. 501(c)(3)” or“we” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this privacy notice.

2. Children Under the Age of 18



Our Websites are intended for Wisconsin legal professionals, non-profit organizations, and supporters of L.A.W. 501(c)(3) and is not intended for children under 18 years of age. No one under age 18 may provide any information to or on the Websites. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 18. If you are under 18, do not use or provide any information on our Websites or on or through any of its respective features/register on or through the Websites, use any of the interactive features of our Websites or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or username you may use. If we learn we have collected or received Personal Information from a child under 18 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information directly from a child under 18, please contact us at the contact information listed below.

3. Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It



Throughout this Privacy Notice, the term “Personal Information” means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual or device. Note that our WebsiteS may offer general information about the law and assist in connecting legal service providers with non-profits seeking legal services, but do not provide legal advice. You should not act on the basis of any INFORMATION on the website without first seeking legal advice from counsel in your jurisdiction. our collection of Personal Information or any other use of, or access to, the Websites or any of its resources does not create an attorney-client relationship. The Websites should not be used as a substitute for the advice of an attorney.

Information You Provide to Us

We collect the following types of Personal Information directly from you when you access or voluntarily submit information through our Websites: name, email address, telephone, title, employer name. If you are contacting us to be a provider of legal services, we may additionally collect professional information (such as law firm name, practice area, or Wisconsin Attorney Bar Number, to confirm status as a Wisconsin attorney). If you are requesting pro-bono legal assistance through us, we may also collect organization registration information (to verify your status as a non-profit), and other similar information about your organization. In addition, we also collect other types of information that you may provide when you fill out a form or through your correspondence with us.

The Personal Information we collect is provided through:

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our Websites, such as when you join our newsletter or contact us to express interest in providing pro bono legal assistance or to request pro bono legal assistance;
  • If you contact us, records, and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses and the contents of your email); and
  • Your search queries on the Websites.

Information We Create About You

We may also create certain information about you in connection with your application to volunteer to provide pro bono legal services or request pro bono legal assistance. When we associate this information with other Personal Information about you, we consider this information to be Personal Information. This information may include professional details or information related to your non-profit organization or legal needs. We create and use this information to verify eligibility, identify pro bono legal service needs, and facilitate connections between non-profits and suitable volunteer attorneys.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies

As you navigate through and interact with our Websites, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain Personal Information about your interactions, including information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns. This includes:

  • Details of your visits to, and use of, our Websites. This may include: browsing history, search history, traffic data, location data, logs, referring/exit pages, date and time of your visit to our Websites, error information, clickstream data, and other communication data and the resources that you access, use, or otherwise interact with on or through the Websites; and
  • Information about your computing device and internet connection, i.e., your IP address, operating system, device make and model, and browser type.

When possible, these organizations are under contractual obligations to use this data only for providing the services to us and to maintain this information strictly confidential. In addition, we strive to provide you with choices regarding the Personal Information we have collected about you. We have created mechanisms to provide you with control over your Personal Information:

This helps us understand our users and the use of our Websites. We may not accommodate a request to change or delete your Personal Information if we believe the change or deletion would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

We do not track you over time and across third-party websites or other online services for any purpose. At this time, we do not honor such signals, and we do not modify what information we collect or how we use that information based upon whether such a signal is broadcast or received by us.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure.
